Spectrum In Wales

Spectrum now delivers sessions in Welsh and English on behalf of Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.

All sessions are interactive workshops designed to help pupils understand aspects of life in the past.

South Wales

Caerphilly Castle – Castle Servants. Foundation, half day visit.
Castle Life Workshop, Key Stage 2, half day visit.
Pupils explore the castle and learn about different people, objects and aspects of everyday life in medieval castles. – (Tel - 029 2088 3143)

Caerphilly Castle - The Age of the Princes. Key Stage 2, whole day visit. Pupils investigate the roles of several characters in the court of a Welsh prince, using artefacts and  games and then undertake the Castle workshop as above. (01443 822 666)

Castell Coch – Aesop’s Fables – Storytelling for Foundation Satge.
A Knight’s Tale – KS1/2 – What was it really like to be a Knight. How did he fight and live? (Tel - 029 2081 0101)

Chepstow (*) – Preparing for her Ladyship, Key Stage 2 & 3, half day visit. A servant needs help in preparing the bedchamber and table for the arrival of the Earl and Countess. (Tel - 01291 624 065)

Tretower (*) – A Servant’s Life, Key Stage 2, half day visit. There are jobs going in the kitchen and the serving hall. (Tel - 01874 730 279)

Blaenavon Ironworks (*) - Victorian Day, Key Stage 2, half day at either site or full day if both sites and activities undertaken. Pupils tour the Ironworks, learning about the variety of work which they would have undertaken - ages six and above. (Tel - 01495 792615)






North Wales

Denbigh Castle (*) – Become a spy to help Madog ap Llywelyn defeat Edward 1. KS2 (Tel - 01745 813385)

Rhuddlan Castle (*) – Time Traveller Misty de Chronos takes you on a tour of the castle with a chance to attack it, defend it and then handle objects relating to times past. (Tel - 01745 590777)

Plas Mawr (*) – Tudor Times and Trade; Foundation, KS1, KS2. Dorothy Wynn proudly shows off her Tudor Town House. (Tel - 01492 580167)
